The Honorable F. Scott Kieff was a Commissioner of the US International Trade Commission from October 2013 through June 2017, when he returned to the private sector as a Principal in McKool Smith’s DC office.  He serves as a trial lawyer and strategic advisor for high stakes disputes within and across tribunals and national boundaries; as an internal investigator and crisis manager; and as a neutral mediator, arbitrator, and compliance monitor for private parties or on appointment by courts and other tribunals.  A frequent public speaker and author of books and articles, he holds a professorship at GW Law School.  His expertise includes international trade and business; intellectual property; antitrust; finance and securities regulation; bankruptcy; biotechnology and medicine; cyber; privacy; and security.  In addition to extensive work as lawyer, consultant, mediator, arbitrator, and compliance monitor, he served as an advisor to various high-level government offices during the Bush, Obama, and Trump Presidential Administrations.  A former law clerk to U.S. Circuit Judge Giles S. Rich, he studied law at Penn and molecular biology and microeconomics at MIT.  He was inducted as a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in March 2012.
